Cannabis Compliance Inc. Joins Global Cannabis Partnership

The cannabis compliance consulting firm now a founding member of the international CSR initiative

Saint John, NB (July 30, 2018) – The world’s largest cannabis compliance firm, Toronto-based Cannabis Compliance Inc. is the newest founding member of the Global Cannabis Partnership (GCP). The consulting firm joins 16 other founding members in the creation of a worldwide social responsibility standard for the safe and responsible production, distribution and consumption of legal, adult-use recreational cannabis.

“CCI has deep knowledge of best practices in the cannabis supply chain worldwide, and will be a tremendous addition to the GCP’s growing body of expertise,” says Cynthia Goodwin, President and CSR practice lead at Revolution Strategy, Managing Partner and Founder of the GCP. “Their expansive international network and experience in cannabis compliance are assets we’ll leverage as we develop the Responsible Cannabis Framework.”

“In our work around the world, we saw gaps and a lack of information,” says Deepak Anand, Vice President, Business Development and Government Relations at CCI. “The GCP is a meaningful way for us to share our knowledge and, together with the other founding members, make a significant impact for a robust, thriving, and responsible, global cannabis industry.”

The GCP is the first of its kind in the growing global recreational cannabis industry. Since announcing its 16 founding members at the World Cannabis Congress in Saint John, NB on June 12, the GCP is in the process of hiring an Executive Director. The successful candidate will be dedicated to validating and advancing the GCP’s governance model, developing a Responsible Cannabis Framework (which will include a third-party accreditation process), budgets and timelines. The Executive Director will be in place by mid-August 2018.

To date, 17 well-respected organizations have joined the Partnership, representing a cross-section of organizations that play – or will play – a role in the legal, adult-use recreational cannabis supply chain. Founding GCP members include: Cannabis NB, Canopy Growth, Aphria, The Green Organic Dutchman, GreenStar Brands, High Park Company, Up Cannabis, MedReleaf, Cansortium Holdings, T4G Limited, McCarthy Tétrault, EY, PwC Canada, Cannabis Compliance Inc., Civilized, Business of Cannabis and Revolution Strategy. Not an advocacy or lobby group, the GCP is a partnership of like-minded organizations who want to raise the bar with respect to social responsibility for the industry.
